Leading adult education through support for and the effective application of technology.

OTAN Digest

Digest #19
September 2022

Message From The Director

I hope this message finds you settling well into your new program year! What does your post-pandemic master schedule look like? Are you offering mostly in-person programming or are you offering a mix of instructional settings including blended and remote? How are you integrating technology-rich instructional strategies and resources into these spaces? What technology resources do you find to be most beneficial for your students? How are you arming your instructional teaching and support staff with the skills they need to effectively integrate technology into their courses regardless of the setting?

This fall, OTAN is offering two courses to support your staff with targeted technology integration. The Triple E Framework launches in early September and measures how well a technology tool or activity engages, enhances, and extends learning. OTAN has applied the Triple E Framework specifically to adult education. This course is designed to walk instructors through a process of designing lesson plans that engage, enhance, and extend learning for students. The BEST course, Building an EdTech Strategy Toolkit, starts in October and is designed to walk instructors through a thoughtful process of designing strategic, sustainable instructional routines that leverage edtech and are centered around the factors that most impact their learners. Register for these and other OTAN trainings on the California Adult Education Professional Development site.

Turn to OTAN for your in-person, hybrid, or fully virtual technology training needs. Reach out to OTAN staff by phone or email at 916-228-2580 or support@otan.us. Have a great start to your fall!

Professional Development - Plan Ahead!

Did you know OTAN provides FREE professional development workshops to help Adult Educators integrate technology?

Think about scheduling OTAN Professional Development in the 2022-2023 school year. With a wide variety of technology topics from which to choose, OTAN training staff can provide in-person workshops or presentations at any approved California adult education agency or professional development event, either online or face-to-face with a computer lab or devices connected to the Internet.

All OTAN's workshops are provided at no cost!

Each session is hands-on - everyone will learn new skills related to technology or using technology that they can use in their adult education class or program. And all OTAN online or face-to-face workshops can be tailored to fit the needs of the requesting program. Select the links to see a list of the current online or face-to-face workshops and descriptions. If you don't see a workshop that is exactly what you need, contact OTAN - we'll work together to create a training that's best for you and your staff!
