What is this?

The California Adult Education Digital Learning Guidance outlines what effective digital learning looks like in adult education programs. These facilitator guides and slide decks are the professional development materials built around it, one session per chapter, designed to help staff actually put the ideas into practice.

Who is it for?

Anyone working in a California adult education program, whether you teach, coordinate, advise, or administer. You don't need to be a tech expert or a senior leader to facilitate a session. If you work with adult learners and want to improve how your program uses digital learning, these materials are for you.

How can it be used?

Each session runs as a live, facilitated group experience, in person, online, or hybrid. Sessions are designed to nurture exploration and conversation, not deliver lectures. Bring your team together to explore a chapter, try some tools, and talk through what makes sense for your students and local context.

You can run all six sessions as a series, or pick the chapters most relevant to what your program is working on right now. Each session stands on its own.

Participants can also explore the content independently through the self-paced online course, which follows the same chapters and works well as pre-work, a follow-up, or an alternative for staff who can't attend live.
