"Skills to Pay the Bills: Mastering Soft Skills for Workplace Success," is a curriculum focused on teaching "soft" or workforce readiness skills to youth (and can be useful for anyone seeking employment). Created for teachers as an introduction to workplace interpersonal and professional skills, the curriculum is targeted for youth ages 14 to 21 in both in-school and out-of-school environments. The basic structure of the program is comprised of modular, hands-on, engaging activities that focus on six key skill areas: communication, enthusiasm and attitude, teamwork, networking, problem solving and critical thinking, and professionalism. In this activity, students use an interactive Periodic Table to explore periods and groups of elements.
This site has many resources. You can use it for many different classes. There are resources for math, science, social studies, English, and Spanish. There are many activities that students can access online, and use alone or in groups. You really need to "mine" this site to see all the useful activities.
They also have free printable worksheets, quizzes, games, and online practice on math, grammar, phonics, handwriting, , language arts, social studies, and geography for preschool to middle school.

Students can use this site on their own to practice this selection of 300 frequently used academic vocabulary words is derived from the "Academic Word List" (Coxhead, 2000). Students can also use the site on their own without registration by entering words to hear pronounced and in sentences and doing activities to practice the spelling of the words. There are 30 lists of 10 select words per list from the Academic Word List. Teachers can use the site to create spelling/vocabulary lists for students to practice.
