Introduction Graphic
 
 

Beginning Level ESL students will create an introduction about themselves using either Google Slides or Jotboard.

Preparation

  1. Check the website to ensure it is not blocked at your site.
  2. Read through the lesson plan.
  3. Print and make copies of any handouts.

How-To

1. Download the Introduction Graphic.

2. Import it into Jotboard (How to available here) or import it into Google slide (How to available here).

3. Create one board or one slide for each student.

Warm-up

Brainstorm with the class, information they give when they first meet someone.

Be sure to elicit, My name is, I am from, I like, I don't like

Introduction

Tell students today they are going to introduce themselves. Show them this graphic of the information they will share.

Share the link with students. Make sure they have edit access. jotboard only allows five collaborators for free. So have the students take turns in groups of five. For Google Slides, copy the graphic, and paste it into Google Slides as the master. Duplicate one slide for each student.

Distribute the introduction worksheet. Have students fill in the information about themselves.

Pair students up to practice introductions.

Demonstrate how to put their information in either Jotboard or Google Slides by putting in your information. Include a demonstration of how to find a graphic.  If students are using a phone, have them upload a picture from their phone. If students do not want to upload their picture, they can upload a photo that symbolizes them.

Students will present themselves to a new partner using the information including what picture they chose and why.

Students will practice introducing themselves to three family members or friends using the phrases learned in class.
