Use videos to examine the Changing Planet. Videos include Infectious Diseases, Ocean Acidification, Ocean Temperatures, Rising Sea Levels, Survival of Trees, Thawing Permafrost, and more
Preparation
- Watch the video clips. Decide which ones you want to use.
- Prepare questions to promote critical thinking in the students.
- Print Summary and Take Away Sheet.
How-To
- Discuss changes to our planet.
- Show selected video clips.
- Divide class into pairs. Assign each pair one section of clips.
- Students work together watching videos, filling out the summary and take away sheets and organizing a presentation for the class.
- Set up a timeline for the oral presentations.
- Presentations can include a written essay about the Changing Planet or a report on what they learned.
- Before the day of presentations discuss with the students what constitutes an oral presentation, including what makes a good listener.
