Describing Images with Padlet and AI

Activity Description
Students will use descriptive skills to create an AI picture similar to the one the teacher displays.
Preparation
- Check the website to ensure it is not blocked at your site.
- Read through the lesson plan.
- Print and make copies of any handouts.

Steps for teaching how to search an image in AI
- Start by describing the image.
- Some things to think about, what actions do you see? What is the mood of the image? Do you want a realistic image, a clip art image, or animation?
- If the image looks different from your expectations, decide why and regenerate.

Lesson Plan
Choose an image that is describable at your students' language level. Divide the students into small groups or breakout rooms and ask them to list the items in the picture. Discuss as a whole class.
Today we will learn how to generate an image using description.
Create a padlet board for students to use. You can see the one I used at padlet.com/susangaer/images
To create an image for students to replicate, click on the plus sign, click on the 3 dots or the most far right button. See the image below.
Have students go to your padlet board and try to create a similar image by following the same steps.Encourage students to use the vocabulary used in the warm up.
Students can present their pictures to the class by reading their descriptions.
Have students practice creating images on the padlet board and use those images for class discussion during other classes.
