Activity Description
In this activity, students give their opinions on a current/controversial issue by writing notes on a Padlet wall as part of a pre-writing/brainstorming activity. The teacher then leads a class activity in which each note is read and grouped with notes that share a similar view of the particular issue. The teacher or students physically move the notes on an interactive whiteboard or computer and projector and discuss the various arguments that have been made.

Students explore the causes, major events, key figures, and lasting impact of the American Revolution through video clips, primary sources, maps, and historical analysis. Using resources from PBS LearningMedia's The American Revolution collection, students examine how thirteen colonies united in rebellion, gained independence, and established a new nation while considering the experiences of different groups affected by the conflict.

On the 2014 High School Equivalency (GED, HISET), 50% focuses on Civics and Government and includes items that assess textual analysis and understanding, and also features one extended response task that requires test-takers to analyze arguments and use evidence found within primary and secondary source texts. This activity not only meets the needs of High School Equivalency (HSE) students but also addresses the College and Career Readiness Standards.

Students use the PhET Fractions: Intro simulation to develop fraction sense by exploring proper fractions, improper fractions, mixed numbers, and number lines. Through guided investigation and collaborative activities, students discover relationships among fractions and represent fractions using visual models and number lines.
