Students learn how to translate word problems into numeric equations using the four operations and order of operations. Through a GeoGebra interactive activity, students analyze word problems, identify key mathematical information, write numeric equations, and verify solutions. The interactive provides practice converting two-step word problems into number sentences and solving them.

Students investigate recent historical and archaeological evidence suggesting that the Americas were home to large, complex, and highly developed societies before the arrival of Europeans. Students examine how disease, colonization, and historical narratives shaped perceptions of Indigenous peoples and evaluate how new evidence can change our understanding of history.

Students investigate the forced removal of the Cherokee Nation from their ancestral lands in the southeastern United States during the 1830s. Through primary sources, historical documents, artwork, and discussion, students examine the Indian Removal Act, President Andrew Jackson's policies, Supreme Court decisions, and the experiences of the Cherokee people. Students evaluate whether the removal violated the principles expressed in the Declaration of Independence.
