Abstract:
This project details persistence strategies and learner outcomes from 18 adult education programs in five New England States. Learner needs identified were: sense of belonging and community; clarity of purpose; human agency (self-direction); building competence; relevance of the program; and stability (consistent programming). Persistence strategies are discussed in four categories: intake and orientation; instruction; counseling and peer support; and re-engagement.
