Activity Description
When teaching time vocabulary, use this Web site to create a clock worksheet for reading and writing exercises.
Preparation
Pre-teach numbers and time expressions with plenty of whole-class practice using analog clocks.
How-To
1. Go the the telling time link on the site. 2. Choose the type of worksheet you want to create. There are two types of time worksheets you can make: "What time is it?" - clocks with hands showing the time, and students write the time; or "Draw the hands on the clock" -- blank analog clocks with a time under them, and students draw in the hands. Choose the time increments (half hour, 15-, 5-, or 1-minute. If you want to have an answer key, check the "Include Answer Key" box. 3. Click the "Create It" button. 4. The worksheet with nine clocks will be a PDF file that you can print and distribute to students for practice.
Teacher Tips
To include listening, you may choose to make a "Draw the hands on the clock" worksheet with the times whited out. Tell students a time, and then have them write the time as well as draw the hands on the clock.
More Ways
Other worksheets you can create using the site include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, mixed problems, fractions, measurement, graphing, and a one hundred chart.
