TDLS 2022 - Helping Individuals Acquire Digital Literacy Skills
TDLS
We know that individuals need digital literacy skills now and into the future to fully participate in today’s society. By the end of the session, each participant will identify at least one online resource they can use to help their students, clients, stakeholders, etc. acquire digital literacy skills to address a digital literacy challenge those individuals are facing. This session will begin with a definition of digital literacy and a survey of participants to list digital literacy challenges they face in their contexts. We will then take a look at a digital skills framework to help participants understand what skills to focus on depending on where their individuals are and what resources they might use to help those individuals acquire the skills they need. There will be breakout rooms for participants to meet and discuss the resources they have identified and gather ideas on how to use the resources in their contexts, followed by all participants in the main room to close.
