TDLS 2022 - Supporting English Learners in Realizing their Career Goals

TDLS

English learners need support to realize their career goals and enter the workforce. Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE) can provide that support. The WIOA, Title II grant funds IELCE programs to prepare English learners for the workforce. These programs establish coordinated and comprehensive processes to co-enroll English Learners (ELs) in high-quality workforce training with English language support. During this session, presenters from exemplary programs discuss their performance-based instruction and assessments as well as student support services. They also describe the challenges they faced in developing and implementing these programs including their response to the COVID-19 pandemic and their implementation of distance learning and remote testing. The will also discuss their successes. Participants will review the model agencies' ESOL literacy, workforce preparation and workforce training courses and evaluate the model programs' effective elements for use
