Resources for Election 2020
by Kristi Reyes

The 2020 Election, both presidential and legislative, is being called one of the most important in recent history. Whether or not our adult students follow the news or are politically aware, we should encourage those eligible to exercise their right to vote because the outcomes will affect everyone.

Spotlight On...

TDLS and presenting from the Director, Renee Collins!

When I first got into teaching in California (yes, I know I will be dating myself with this statement!), professional learning was a requirement.  It was something we had to do. We were required to track our hours and submit them to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing to retain our credential.  Now, professional learning is something we get to do.  As adult education practitioners in California, we are very fortunate to have a wealth of high-quality learning opportunities available to the field.  OTAN's Technology and Distance Learning Symposium (TDLS) is one such example.

TDLS provides the field with Distance Learning strategies, innovative resources and tools, impactful practices, and other resources to implement at your school sites. TDLS 2021 is virtual and free to attend. It will take place on Wednesday through Friday, March 3-5. If you enjoy learning from OTAN and other adult educators, TDLS is for you. Please check the TDLS website at https://tdls.otan.us/ for regular updates on the call for proposals, registration, and schedule.

Are you using or have you found a great tech tool that you would like to share with other educators? You can consider submitting a proposal for TDLS or you can opt to present online for us on a cool tech tool or tech-related topic. Complete this form - we'll be in touch! bit.ly/OTANWebinar

So many great opportunities to be lifelong learners and teachers!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Stay safe and be well.

And please contact OTAN for your technology training needs at any time this year! Email us at support@otan.us or call us at 916-228-2580.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - PLAN AHEAD!

Did you know OTAN provides FREE professional development workshops to help Adult Educators integrate technology?

Think about scheduling OTAN Professional Development in the 2020-2021 school year. With a wide variety of technology topics from which to choose, OTAN training staff will present for any WIOA-funded adult education program in California either online or face-to-face with a computer lab or devices connected to the Internet. (Note that face-to-face trainings will be scheduled when it is safe and OTAN staff are free to travel.)

All OTAN's workshops are provided at no cost!

Each session is hands-on - everyone will learn new skills related to technology or using technology that they can use in their adult education class or program. And all OTAN online or face-to-face workshops can be tailored to fit the needs of the requesting program. Select the links to see a list of the current online or face-to-face workshops and descriptions. If you don't see a workshop that is exactly what you need, contact OTAN - we'll work together to create a training that's best for you and your staff!

Need more information? Contact OTAN training staff anytime by phone at 916-228-2580 or by email at support@otan.us
