Digital Inclusion Week is an annual event meant to bring attention to solutions addressing home internet access, personal devices, and local technology training and support programs.

OTAN recently finalized the list of California adult education agencies that will participate in its Digital Leadership Academy 2020-2022, the third DLAC cohort.

OTAN Office Hours, from the Director, Renee Collins!

Using Google Forms and Quizzes, conducting class via Zoom, Canvas, or Moodle, or collaborating via Zoom Whiteboard or Padlet may be a handful of tools you have employed to engage your adult students virtually this fall. At times, you may be feeling overwhelmed with all the ed tech options that are available, but you need not feel you are alone. OTAN offers Office Hours twice weekly, a drop in forum where instructors can ask questions or get support on specific tools to use with students. The group size averages eight participants per session. Some recent topics have been:

• Convert Word or PDF to fillable documents
• Learn best practices for setting up your own virtual Office Hours
• Padlet, Remind, and Snipping Tool
• Add your Bitmoji to slides
• YouTube channel setup

So, while you can likely use Google or check YouTube for a tutorial, it may be fun to learn from and with your adult education colleagues from around the state. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - PLAN AHEAD!

Did you know OTAN provides FREE professional development workshops to help Adult Educators integrate technology?

Think about scheduling OTAN Professional Development in the 2020-2021 school year. With a wide variety of technology topics from which to choose, OTAN training staff will present for any WIOA-funded adult education program in California either online or face-to-face with a computer lab or devices connected to the Internet. (Note that face-to-face trainings will be scheduled when it is safe and OTAN staff are free to travel.)

All OTAN's workshops are provided at no cost!

Each session is hands-on - everyone will learn new skills related to technology or using technology that they can use in their adult education class or program. And all OTAN online or face-to-face workshops can be tailored to fit the needs of the requesting program. If you don't see a workshop that is exactly what you need, contact OTAN - we'll work together to create a training that's best for you and your staff!
