OTAN Upcoming Activities – Week of 5/30

OTAN provides activities and resources to support our adult education colleagues. (All times below are PDT.)

  • The OTAN office will be closed on Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day. We will return to the office on Tuesday, May 31.

  • The Digital Leadership Academy application for Cohort 4 agencies is open! Learn more about DLAC and how to apply to be a part of this professional development program: bit.ly/OTANDLACapp

  • On Wednesday, June 1 at 10:00am (adjusted time) and again at 2:00pm, Diana Vera-Alba will present Open Educational Resources (OERs) for Adult Education. This workshop provides an introduction to Open Educational Resources (OERs) and how OERs can be the answer to drive students to register and help them persist in class - all while teachers get practical resources.   • On Thursday, June 2 at 9:00am and again at 3:00pm, Diana Vera-Alba will present OERs: Opening, Demystifying, Finding, and Using. Learn the basics of creating OERs, be shown tools that help create and revise learning materials, and how to correctly attribute and license your own works as OERs, as well as insights and knowledge in identifying true OERs and searching for resources in several vetted OER repositories.   • On Friday, June 3 at 9:00am and again at 2:00pm, Diana Vera-Alba will present OERs vs. Free Resources. Get a closer look at how OERs are different from free resources available on the web. Topics will include Creative Commons licenses, Public Domain, and Copyright. Participants will be shown tips on what to look for and how to familiarize themselves with identifying OERs.   • On Friday, June 3 from 12:00 to 1:00pm, OTAN will host CIP Resubmissions Office Hours. Need to resubmit your Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP)? Join this CIP Resubmissions Office Hour to reevaluate/rewrite or discuss your SMART goal(s) before you resubmit your CIP.   • On Wednesday, June 8 at 10:00am, Penny Pearson will present California Case Studies of New Readers Press Digital Learning Tools. Learn about the key results of two program pilots for digital learning solutions available from New Readers Press.   • On Friday, June 10 at 1:00pm, Yescenia Delgado will present the June OTAN Tech Talk, Best Practices for Teaching Online. Participants will explore what makes a great online education experience. You can sign up for this webinar at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.
