Getting People Connected Through the Affordable Connectivity Program
In the wake of people moving their family, work, and school lives online due to COVID-19, the federal government began the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) in May 2021. EBB provided individuals and families across the country the opportunity to sign up for low-cost broadband service and a discount on a device used to connect to the Internet.
The EBB was intended to provide a temporary solution for people having trouble with staying connected to programs and services that were only accessible online, but late last year, Congress voted to extend and amend EBB, which is now known as the Affordable Connectivity Program, or ACP. Many of the key components of EBB will continue in the ACP, and individuals and families that both participated and did not in EBB are eligible to apply to the ACP. More information about the ACP is available and will be forthcoming on the FCC's ACP website. At this site, you can:
