Digital Inclusion Week, sponsored by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance, is an annual event meant to bring attention to solutions addressing home internet access, personal devices, and local technology training and support programs, with the goal of closing the digital divide that exist in cities and local communities around the country. This year, Digital Inclusion Week is from October 4 to 8.

Over the last year and a half, COVID-19 has shown a spotlight on digital divide issues that our students and others are currently facing. During Digital Inclusion Week 2021, there are many ways to learn more about and raise awareness of digital equity issues that communities in California face:

  • Visit the Digital Inclusion Week 2021 page - Consider doing one or more of the events listed this week or in the future, including hosting a digital resource fair, a workshop on a variety of digital inclusion topics, or a resume rally, and take a look at the numerous resources at the bottom of this page.

  • In addition to this week's events, connect with NDIA Affiliates in your area and add them to your list of stakeholders (go to the Affiliates page and search for local and California organizations).

  • Follow the Twitter hashtags #DigitalEquityNOW #DigitalInclusion and #DIW2021 to see what other organizations across the country are doing to close digital divide.

  • Get more information about digital inclusion and digital equity on the NDIA website.

Digital equity is an issue that currently affects thousands of urban and rural Californians across the state and threatens to persist into the future; adult education agencies and their partners can help close the digital divide. Learn more and raise awareness during Digital Inclusion Week 2021 and in the weeks and months to come.
