Upcoming OTAN Activities to Support Adult Educators – Week of 2/1

OTAN has scheduled a number of online webinars and Office Hours for our adult education colleagues who are teaching and supporting their learners remotely. (All times below are PST.)

  • Visit OTAN's COVID-19 Field Support webpage that we are continually updating with relevant information for teachers, students, and administrators: COVID-19 Field Support

  • OTAN Office Hours provide an opportunity to ask more detailed questions and get support on specific tools to use with students. You can sign up for these OTAN Office Hours at the California Adult Education Training Calendar:

    • Tuesday, February 2 from 4:00 to 5:00pm
    • Thursday, February 4 from 12:00 to 1:00pm
  • On Wednesday at 2:00pm, Melinda Holt will present Google Account Management and Safety – Part 3. Series topics will be modeled and discussed and more may be covered as time allows: the difference between and creating Google accounts - 100% Google vs. hybrid version; multiple accounts - advantages to using more than one account, separating your "selves," permissions between accounts, transferring files or ownership; browser account vs. cloud account (i.e., Chrome vs Drive or Gmail); and methods of signing in - via Google tools or EDU, switching between Club and Pub, etc. You can sign up for this webinar at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

  • On Thursday at 2:00pm, Francisca Wentworth will present Advanced-Level ESL Moodle Course. The Advanced ESL course is designed for High Intermediate and Advanced ESL students and can be used in a blended learning setting or as a distance-learning stand-alone course. This webinar will walk you through OTAN's Advanced ESL Moodle course and show you ways you can use it with your students right away.   • The nomination period for the 2021 Adult Education Students Succeed Program is now open. OTAN invites nominations of adult education learners who are successful as a result of the education received at California WIOA-funded adult education agencies.
