Upcoming OTAN Activities to Support Adult Educators – Week of 12/7

Posted on 12/04/2020

OTAN has scheduled a number of online webinars and Office Hours for our adult education colleagues who are teaching and supporting their learners remotely. (All times below are PST.)

  • Visit OTAN's COVID-19 Field Support webpage that we are continually updating with relevant information for teachers, students, and administrators: COVID-19 Field Support

  • OTAN Office Hours provide an opportunity to ask more detailed questions and get support on specific tools to use with students. You can sign up for these OTAN Office Hours at the California Adult Education Training Calendar:

    • Tuesday, December 8 from 4:00 to 5:00pm
    • Thursday, December 10 from 12:00 to 1:00pm
  • On Tuesday at 3:00pm, Penny Pearson will present A11y - Accessibility: Considerations for AE Teachers. Technology can help us achieve more, be more productive, and be more creative. But sometimes we overlook the fact that these same technologies can help our learners who have physical disabilities to experience these same benefits. We just need to find the tools and make resources accessible for them. Come learn with us about the variety of tools, resources, and learning modules around Microsoft Accessibility tools. You can sign up for this webinar at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

  • On Friday at 10:00am, OTAN will host Office Hours for Maximizing Moodle. The many features and resources available on OTAN's Adult Ed Online Courses Moodle site can be daunting to new users. Join us to get one-on-one support, help, suggestions and just plain old encouragement in using Moodle with learners. Attending teachers will drive the session with their questions and needs. You can sign up for these Office Hours at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

  • On Friday at 1:00pm, Cynthia Eagleton will present the December OTAN Tech Talk, Social Media in the Adult Education Classroom. Social media can cast a spotlight on our wonderful programs, bringing attention to our offerings and building a community. Learn tricks and tips to accomplish these great ends: master hashtags; organize and streamline your task load with Hootsuite; and understand why accessibility matters and how Hootsuite can help you in this regard. Learn more by attending this OTAN Tech Talk! You can sign up for this webinar at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.
