Upcoming OTAN Activities to Support Adult Educators – Week of 10/26

OTAN has scheduled a number of online webinars and Office Hours for our adult education colleagues who are teaching and supporting their learners remotely. (All times below are PDT.)

  • Visit OTAN's COVID-19 Field Support webpage that we are continually updating with relevant information for teachers, students, and administrators: COVID-19 Field Support

  • OTAN Office Hours provide an opportunity to ask more detailed questions and get support on specific tools to use with students. You can sign up for these OTAN Office Hours at the California Adult Education Training Calendar:

    • Tuesday, October 20 from 4:00 to 5:00pm

    • There will be no Thursday Office Hour – We will be busy helping at the CAEP Summit that day!

  • OTAN will be at the CAEP Summit 2020 from Monday to Thursday. Please stop by our virtual booth and consider joining these sessions:

    • Tuesday at 1:00pm – CAEP Update with OTAN Coordinator Penny Pearson, Panelist

    • Wednesday at 1:00pm – Unprecedented Change for Beginning ESL Teachers, presented by Alisa Takeuchi, OTAN Subject Matter Expert

    • Thursday at 8:30am – OTAN Resources, presented by Susan Coulter, OTAN Subject Matter Expert

    • Thursday at 1:00pm – Ways to Engage Using Google, presented by Melinda Holt, OTAN Project Specialist

  • On Friday at 10:00am, OTAN will host Office Hours for Maximizing Moodle. The many features and resources available in Moodle (which OTAN upgraded over the summer) can be daunting to new users. Join us to get one-on-one support, help, suggestions and just plain old encouragement in using Moodle with learners. Attending teachers will drive the session with their questions and needs. You can sign up for these Office Hours at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

  • On Friday at 2:00pm, Penny Pearson will present OERs for Adult Education. There are many free, customizable, and editable resources for adult educators and their learners. By using Open Educational Resources (OER) in the classroom and online, teachers and agencies can save money, revise and refresh curriculum, and give learners an opportunity to customize their learning. This webinar will introduce participants to the basics of OER; what are they, how can you find them, and considerations for determining their quality for use in your classroom. You can sign up for these Office Hours at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.
