Upcoming OTAN Activities to Support Adult Educators – Week of 6/15

Posted on 06/12/2020

OTAN has scheduled a number of online webinars and Office Hours for our adult education colleagues who are continuing to teach and support their learners. (All times below are PDT.)

  • Visit OTAN’s COVID-19 Field Support webpage that we are continually updating with relevant information for teachers, students, and administrators: COVID-19 Field Support

  • OTAN Office Hours provide an opportunity to ask more detailed questions and get support on specific tools to use with students. You can sign up for these OTAN Office Hours at the California Adult Education Training Calendar (and please note our revised schedule)

    • Tuesday, June 16 from 4:00 to 5:00pm

    • Thursday, June 18 from 10:00 to 11:00am

  • On Monday at 1:00pm, OTAN staff will host OTAN Field Support – What's Next? OTAN is interested in hearing from adult educators about lessons learned in the rapid transition from face-to-face to online learning this past spring and how we can continue to provide support for the adult education field. We invite you to participate in this webinar where findings will be shared and discussed and your input will be welcomed! You can sign up for this webinar at the California Adult Education Training Calendar. Please help us by also completing our OTAN Field Survey with your feedback.

  • On Tuesday at 9:00am, Melinda Holt will present Google Docs. Google Docs is more than just a text editor. Different settings, tools, and add-ons within Google Docs allow users to create interactive documents, share and collaborate with others, complete research from within, voice type, translate, and create drawings. You can sign up for this webinar at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

  • On Tuesday at 1:00pm, Jeff Goumas will present Evidence-based Reading Instruction with EdTech. During this session, we will explore a variety of free, high-quality tech tools that can be leveraged to develop all components of EBRI while providing authentic, engaging, relevant, and appropriate leveled reading options accessible to all learners to increase engagement, support increased differentiation, and yield higher reading achievement for adult learners. You can sign up for this webinar at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

  • On Wednesday at 10:00am, Blair Roy and Susan Coulter will host Office Hours for Maximizing Moodle. The many features and resources available in Moodle can be daunting to new users. Join us to get one-on-one support, help, suggestions and just plain old encouragement in using Moodle with learners. Attending teachers will drive the session with their questions and needs. You can sign up for these Office Hours at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

  • On Friday at 1:00pm, OTAN staff and DLAC coaches will host What Is It Like to be Part of DLAC? Graduates of OTAN’s Digital Leadership Academy will discuss everything from the application process and the original projects to the DLAC support process, how projects changed over the course of two years, and the individual as well as program outcomes. Attendees will be encouraged to ask questions – especially those who would like a greater understanding of DLAC or those considering the DLAC application process. You can sign up for this webinar at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.
