Posted on 05/22/2020

OTAN has scheduled a number of online webinars and Office Hours for our adult education colleagues who are continuing to teach and support their learners. (All times below are PDT.)

  • Visit OTAN’s COVID-19 Field Support webpage that we are continually updating with relevant information for teachers, students, and administrators: COVID-19 Field Support

  • OTAN Office Hours provide an opportunity to ask more detailed questions and get support on specific tools to use with students. You can sign up for these OTAN Office Hours at the California Adult Education Training Calendar:

    • Monday, May 25 – closed for Memorial Day
    • Wednesday, May 27 from 4:00 to 5:00pm
    • Friday, May 29 from 10:00 to 11:00am
  • On Tuesday at 1:00pm, Alisa Takeuchi will present Digital Resources for Beginning ESL Students v2.0. This webinar is a continuation of its predecessor with new websites and tools for English as a Second Language. This hands-on workshop will help teachers of Beginning ESL practice some easy websites and tools as a student, and they will also be shown how to start using the resources as teachers. You can sign up for this webinar at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

  • On Wednesday at 10:00am, Blair Roy and Susan Coulter will host Office Hours for Maximizing Moodle. The many features and resources available in Moodle can be daunting to new users. Join us to get one-on-one support, help, suggestions and just plain old encouragement in using Moodle with learners. Attending teachers will drive the session with their questions and needs. You can sign up for these Office Hours at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

  • On Wednesday at 2:00pm, Debbie Jensen will present Student Success Online with 21Things4Students. 21Things4Students can assist teachers as they help their students succeed online. We will look at the 21 things as they apply to what we need right now to get our students up and running online. We will also take a look at the great site 21Things4Teachers that is available as well. You can sign up for these Office Hours at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

• On Thursday at 9:00am, Melinda Holt will present Google Drive and Docs. This workshop is for users who want to become more comfortable with Google Drive and Docs. Participants will learn to manage and organize files, upload other filetypes and/or convert to uploads to Google format, as well as sharing options and file permissions. A peek into some of the lesser known options within Google Docs will also be explored. You can sign up for this webinar at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

  • On Thursday at 1:00pm, Drew Robinson will present Learning Upgrade’s Remote Learning Action Plan. Learning Upgrade has a plan to help you continue delivering education remotely without direct student contact. This webinar will train teachers to remotely self-enroll their students into Learning Upgrade's award-winning app, view class reports using the teacher LMS, and reward student achievement. Learning Upgrade will also feature their highly anticipated new Digital Literacy course which teaches digital literacy standards. You can sign up for this webinar at the California Adult Education Training Calendar.
