Marshall Leveled Reading Program: Free Reading Resources for Adult Learners
Looking for leveled reading resources for your students? The Marshall Leveled Reading Program (MLRP) is an adaptation of the Reading Skills for Today’s Adults library, designed for independent practice and flexible classroom use.
Developed in Summer 2020 through CrowdED Learning’s first EdTech Maker Space, the program now offers:
- 345 leveled stories available on Wakelet, SkillBlox, or through the browser-based MLRP app.
- Adaptable resources that build fluency, vocabulary, language, comprehension, speaking, and writing skills.
- Each story paired with Quizlet vocabulary practice and a Google Forms comprehension check.
In Fall 2024, a new Reading Skills curriculum was added, featuring 23 adaptable lessons for CCRS Level B (NRS ABE Level 2 / ESL Level 4) accompanied by a detailed instructor’s guide. Each lesson includes:
- An introduction to a key reading skill (e.g., finding the main idea, identifying author’s purpose).
- A leveled story with practice activities in Google Slides, Wordwall, and Flippity.
- A built-in comprehension check.
These resources are free and ideal for ABE, ASE, and ESL students who need additional reading practice.
