Looking for engaging, ready-to-use lessons for adult learners? Adult Ed Med offers over 40 free video lessons (5–30 minutes each) designed to support both students and instructors.

Lessons cover ESL, Workforce/Technology, Reasoning/Language Arts, and Math. Each lesson includes:

  • Videos in English and Spanish
  • Student resources (online practice activities via Wakelet)
  • Teacher resources (slides, lesson plans, and practice activities)

What makes Adult Ed Med unique is its storytelling approach. All lessons follow a storyline set at the fictitious Adult Ed Medical Center (Adult Ed Med), where adult learners are preparing for job opportunities. Videos spotlight fictional adult students applying for roles at the hospital, highlighting their skill gaps and mapping lessons that can help them reach their goals.

Teachers can integrate the lessons in flexible ways, such as:

  • Using them for warm-ups, presentations, modeling, and guided practice
  • Teaching the lesson themselves after showing the video introduction
  • Flipping or blending classes by assigning the video for homework and using class time for follow-up activities
  • Supplementing distance learning with targeted, ready-to-use support

By weaving academics into a workplace narrative, Adult Ed Med helps adult learners build skills in ways that connect directly to real-world job opportunities. Developed in 2020 by the Texas Center for the Advancement of Literacy & Learning (TCALL) at Texas A & M University, this project continues to be a valuable resource for adult education programs nationwide.
