This Week’s Upcoming Activities

September 9 –11, 9:00 am-3:00 pm | California Department of Education's (CDE) Adult Education Office (AEO): New Administrator Orientation (NAO) 2025. The New Administrator Orientation (NAO) will provide an overview of the WIOA, Title II: AEFLA grant implementation requirements and available resources for grantees. The orientation is intended for new grantees and new staff of continuing agencies who have been in their position for less than three years, including adult education administrators, principals, supervisor-level staff, and individuals directly supporting grant administrative activities.

Wednesday, September 10, 8:00 - 9:30 am | Getting Started with Canvas with Francisco X. Pinedo, OTAN Subject Matter Expert. This is a hands-on, interactive online session designed specifically for beginning Canvas users. We'll learn the essential features and help you feel confident navigating your online courses. In this session you will learn how to create a course, add course information, and how to import a course from Canvas Commons. You will also learn how to invite students to your course.

Friday, September 12, 1:00 - 2:00 pm | OTAN Tech Talk September 2025: Exploring AI Tools at Padlet TA with Anthony Burik, OTAN Coordinator. Padlet TA is an innovative, web-based AI assistant created by the makers of Padlet, designed to reduce teacher prep time and allow educators to concentrate on student interaction and instruction. This presentation will introduce the Padlet TA website and its tools that educators can use for teaching and learning.

Saturday, September 13, 9:00 am - 10:30 am | Mastering Canvas Modules for Student Engagement with Dana Thompson, OTAN Subject Matter Expert. Unlock the power of Canvas Modules to create a clear, engaging learning experience. This session will show you how to structure content logically, chunk information effectively, and align materials with your syllabus. Learn how to use publish dates, prerequisites, and requirements to guide students through your course at the right pace.
