In the age of AI, students urgently need access to computer science

Author, Julie Flapan shares that school leaders are “overwhelmed with decisions about teaching with AI tools and teaching about artificial intelligence in the classroom.” She argues that instead of “seeing AI as yet another thing to fit into the schedule, educators should offer high-quality computer science education.” Computer science career pathways offer an increase in earnings and an increased understanding of how technology works.

California’s “computer science strategic implementation plan” supports computer science education and professional development for all teachers prepared to teach it. California’s legislature funded several professional development opportunities for educators. Computer Science Pathways can lead the next generation of job seekers into a new generation of technology.
