Public comment is now open for California’s draft Digital Equity Plan until January 25, 2024. Adult Education perspective is important. Visit the State Digital Equity Plan webpage to access the draft, then select the public comment form and follow the instructions to share your feedback. California Adult Education Students Succeed CAESS Nomination Window will open January 1, 2024, and close March 15, 2024.

Updated Canvas Administrator Cohort and Apply IT! for January 2024 | This new year features an essential slate of topics and learning outcomes designed to “get up and running as an Admin.” Also added are the Apply IT! Sessions which are practical, optional application opportunities correlating with the morning’s learning. Tuesday, January 9, 12-1:30 pm | Canvas Assignments with OTAN SME Dana Thompson| Participants will learn the intricacies of creating, managing, and grading assignments, along with integrating various multimedia and interactive elements for student engagement.

Tuesday, January 9, 12-1:00 pm | Canvas Q and A for Administrators and Teachers | Open for anyone seeking assistance with their Canvas instance. Questions will be answered in order of placement on the Q and A document sent with registration.

Friday, January 12, 12-1:00 pm |Building an EdTech Strategy Toolkit (BEST) Course Orientation (Spring) | Facilitators will discuss the course in detail including how to access the course, timelines, how the content is sectioned, and what is expected of participants. Questions will be answered and registration for the course will be discussed.

Friday, January 12, 1-2:00 pm | OTAN Tech Talk: Using HyFlex Instruction with OTAN SME Francisco X. Pinedo, Jr. | HyFlex has improved student retention at Soledad Adult School. Join this Tech Talk for a discussion about the challenges and successes.

Tuesday, January 16, 9-10:30 am | Canvas Admin Cohort | This practical session is designed for admin to organize their accounts, create subaccounts, courses, sections and enroll users via CSV upload. Sign up by emailing Karin de Varennes at kdevarennes@scoe.net or aecanvas@scoe.net.

Tuesday, January 16, 12-1:30 pm | Canvas Gradebook and SpeedGrader with OTAN SME Dana Thompson | Participants will learn advanced techniques for streamlining the grading process, along with effective strategies for providing constructive feedback directly through these tools, increasing student engagement in your courses.

Wednesday, January 17, 1-2:30 pm | Grab N Go Lessons for Digital Learning | Make it your resolution to elevate your teaching game in 2024! Join us on a tech-powered adventure into the Teaching with Technology online database – a tool for teachers on the OTAN website. Leave with digital lessons plans ready to go in any adult education subject area and aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS).
