If your agency is looking for low-cost access to technology for adult learners, look no further than human-i-t. Their mission is to "create equitable access...by providing devices, internet access, digital skills training, and tech support for communities left on the wrong side of the digital divide." At the same time, they divert technology from landfills to protect the planet.

To date:

  • 318k - tech items distributed
  • 105k - households assisted with internet
  • 7k - digital literacy learners
  • 13M - pounds of e-waste diverted

human-i-t Business Model

Their business model is to "shrink the e-waste in landfills" by retrieving donations of unwanted technology. Then they refurbish for reuse or sell at a lower cost.  Recipients who have a technological barrier can, through a digital navigator, access low-cost internet, affordable devices, tech support and digital literacy training.
