Please join us for OTAN's next Tech Talk on Friday, December 13 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm PST. This month's Tech Talk is on Kahoot! and Quizizz in the Adult Education Classroom by Ryan de la Vega, ESL Resource Teacher at Torrance Adult School and OTAN Subject Matter Expert.

Motivate students with Kahoot and Quizizz, two game-based classroom response systems played by the whole class in real time. Participants will be shown how to search for and develop games, and monitor progress using Kahoot and Quizizz. Adult ed teachers can create and have students play games individually, in teams, and for homework on a variety of topics. Learn more by attending this OTAN Tech Talk! You can sign up for this OTAN event on the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

You can listen to previous OTAN Tech Talks on our YouTube channel. The recordings are here: OTAN Tech Talks YouTube playlist (And make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel while you’re there!)

If you’re interested in sharing a tech tool or tip with your colleagues in the field, submit your presentation idea using this OTAN Tech Talk Presentations Google Form. We are always interested in learning about the latest tech tip or idea that can be shared among adult educators.

Also join us for an OTAN webinar on Google Classroom for Adult Education on Tuesday, December 10 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm PST, presented by Debbie Jensen from Baldwin Park Adult and Community Education. Google Classroom is a free blended learning system that allows educators to create online classes where they can enroll students, distribute, grade, and return assignments, and communicate with individuals or entire classes. This workshop will cover the basics of Classroom and includes steps to create classes, assignment streams, enrolling students, tracking and grading assignment status, calendaring, and tips for getting the most out of an online adult education classroom. Time may be provided during or after this online workshop to allow participants “hands-on” time with the trainer as they build their own classroom. You can sign up for this OTAN webinar on the California Adult Education Training Calendar.

Finally, if you would like to learn more about OTAN and its new website, join us for a live online demonstration by Anthony Burik, OTAN Project Specialist on Wednesday, December 11 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm PST, sponsored by the California Adult Education Program Technical Assistance Project (CAEP TAP). This workshop introduces participants to OTAN and focuses on teaching resources available on and through the OTAN website for ESL/EL Civics/Citizenship, ABE, and High School Diploma and Equivalency preparation programs. Participants will learn to navigate the website in order to find online tools for preparing classroom activities and creating a blended learning environment, a description of the various professional development training opportunities that OTAN offers, and ways to stay connected to OTAN for up-to-date information. You can sign up for this webinar on the CAEP TAP website.

We look forward to seeing you soon online!
