Leading adult education through support for and the effective application of technology.

November 2020

Administrators' Digest

November 2020

FROM THE DIRECTOR, RENEE COLLINS

November is here, and I am loving this fall weather! Hiking, sweaters, and hot chocolate…oh my!! I hope that you are enjoying this cooler season, too.

If your agency has not already done so, you may want to update your Course Approvals for 20-21.  While agencies do not have a deadline to submit course approvals, the Education Code states that LEAs must have approval from their board and the CDE to offer Adult Education courses. Agencies can go onto the California Online Application and Reporting site to find the course list. To see the entire list and course descriptions, there is no need to log onto the site. However, to complete the Course Approval process, one must log in and be authorized under the Contact information section to complete the process.

Late fall also means that planning for OTAN's Technology and Distance Learning Symposium (TDLS) is under way. TDLS will be virtual this year and will take place Wednesday-Friday, March 3-5. Going virtual means we will have the ability to host more registrants. Look for the Call for Proposals to open soon. More information will be forthcoming.

Are you interested in training in scheduling an OTAN training for your staff? Please reach out to us at support@otan.us to learn how we can help with your training needs. We've now reinstated virtual face-to-face trainings!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Stay safe and be well.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - PLAN AHEAD!

Did you know OTAN provides FREE professional development workshops to help Adult Educators integrate technology?

Think about scheduling OTAN Professional Development in the 2020-2021 school year. With a wide variety of technology topics from which to choose, OTAN training staff will present for any WIOA-funded adult education program in California either online or face-to-face with a computer lab or devices connected to the Internet. (Note that face-to-face trainings will be scheduled when it is safe and OTAN staff are free to travel.)

All OTAN's workshops are provided at no cost!

Each session is hands-on - everyone will learn new skills related to technology or using technology that they can use in their adult education class or program. And all OTAN online or face-to-face workshops can be tailored to fit the needs of the requesting program. Select the links to see a list of the current online or face-to-face workshops and descriptions. If you don't see a workshop that is exactly what you need, contact OTAN - we'll work together to create a training that's best for you and your staff!

Need more information? Contact OTAN training staff anytime by phone at 916-228-2580 or by email at support@otan.us
