REGISTRATION FOR OTAN'S TECHNOLOGY AND DISTANCE LEARNING SYMPOSIUM IS NOW OPEN!

OTAN’s annual Technology and Distance Learning Symposium (TDLS) will take place March 6 and 7, 2020 at the Charles A. Jones Career & Education Center in Sacramento, and registration for TDLS is now open!

TDLS is OTAN’s two-day conference with dynamic, hands-on presentations that show participants how to integrate technology to enhance the learner experience, extend the classroom to learners through blended/distance learning, and help adult education programs be more effective and efficient. Join us at TDLS to learn more about online learning, blended learning, and distance learning, a variety of tech tools for the classroom, how to address accessibility, persistence, equity, citizenship, and other topics using technology, OTAN’s Digital Leadership Academy (DLAC) projects, and much more! (You are welcome to review last year’s 2019 TDLS Program for information on the kinds of workshops to expect at TDLS.)

Registration is limited to the first 200 registrants. The fee to register is $35.00 per person, which includes breakfast and lunch both days. To register, please visit this page on the OTAN website: https://tdls.otan.us/Registration  And please encourage your colleagues to attend by sharing this TDLS 2020 flyer.

NEWS YOU CAN USE

Using Data to Drive Decision-Making

One of the features of using technology in the classroom is the ability to generate data, often instantaneously, on student performance. The question to ask is, do teachers and administrators know what to do with the data to better student and program performance?

Learning More About Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are an important component of WIOA, but many adult educators are not familiar with this valuable option for our students.

The Future of Sharing

There were two news items from last week that are interesting to consider when it comes to the future of sharing educational materials and resources online.

How Technology is Changing Work

We see more and more technology that touches all parts of our classrooms and schools, and this is a microcosm of how technology is working itself into all parts of life, especially the world of work.

OTAN Curriculum Offers to Consider

For many years, OTAN has worked to negotiate the best free or reduced-cost special offers for online curriculum licenses and professional development resources suggested by our OTAN Advisory Committee and adult educators in the field. We have a number of current offers that may be of interest to you.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - PLAN AHEAD!

Did you know OTAN provides FREE professional development workshops related to technology for Adult Educators?

Think about scheduling Professional Development for this 2019-2020 school year. With a wide-variety of technology topics in their arsenal, OTAN training staff will go to any WIOA-funded adult education program in CA that has a computer lab or devices connected to the Internet.

All of OTAN's workshops are provided at no-cost!
Each three-hour session is hands-on - everyone will learn new skills related to technology or using technology that they can use in their adult education class or program. And all of OTAN's face-to-face workshops can be tailored to fit the needs of the requesting program.
