Use the free portion of this app (you can also use the Web site, link above) in class to teach about Nouns or have students use individually or in small groups to teach and learn about nouns. The parts of speech are represented by animated characters. There are books, songs, videos, and interactive games with quizzes.Preparation
- Install the app and preview the Nouns section activities before using with your class.
- Decide if you will use all the activities or limit to specific videos or quizzes.
- Pre-teach nouns by conducting a lesson before students use the app.
How-To
- Install the app, available on the Apple App Store.
- Select The Nouns.
- Follow the map through the exercises, beginning with the introduction, which is a reading.
- View the videos and take the quizzes, which include Common or Proper? Abstract or Concrete? Collective and Compound, and Singular or Plural?
Teacher Tips
- Students can also participate using a computer if mobile devices are not available at Grammaropolis
- There are 10 short quizzes per topic, and the progress tracker shows completion of the quizzes and scores..
- The other parts of speech sections (Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs, Pronouns, Conjunctions, Prepositions, Interjections) are available individually for in-app purchase, or you may purchase all contents of the app. See the iTunes App store for pricing.
