Activity Description
In this activity, those needing drill and practice in the proper use of grammar can choose the sentence that is grammatically correct. For each answer they get right, FreeRice donates 10 grains of rice through the World Food Program to help end hunger. Use this fun and engaging site when a student needs more help in this area. There are also questions that can be used for reviewing the following topics:
- English Vocabulary
- Geography
- Math (Multiplication Table and Basic Math/Pre-Algebra)
- Science (Human Anatomy)
- Chemistry
Preparation
- Review the site to make sure your students are ready for the high-level grammar and punctuation questions included on the site.
How-To
- Direct students to the Example Web Site (above). To get students to the Web site, you can make it a Favorite (or Bookmark the site) on each computer browser, e-mail them the link, e-mail a word processing document with the link in it, or post the link on your class Web page.
- If your students enjoy this site, you may want to help them create a free account , which allows them to track how much rice they have helped donate. They can also log in with a Facebook account if they have one.
Teacher Tips
- You may have to disable ad blockers to play very long, since it is the ads that help pay for the rice.
