Activity Description

This Web site is not so much an activity as it is a site that has a number of different quizzes that could be used as part of an activity your class is working on. It is divided into three levels: Easy, Medium, and Difficult. The quizzes are mostly related to vocabulary or grammar. There are also crossword puzzles and bilingual quizzes in many languages. All of the quizzes are made by contributing teachers. The quizzes load fast and there is no advertising.

There are also links to some podcasts and YouTube videos for ESL. You may want to make this a favorite site when you want a pre-made quiz on just about any topic your class is studying.

Activities for ESL Students is a project of The Internet TESL Journal .

Preparation

  • Search the Example Web Site (shown above) for appropriate quizzes or puzzles. The link to the Search is under the section labeled Special.
  • Scan the main category links for quizzes of interest or use the built in search feature to find a quiz or quizzes related to your instructional goals or course objectives.
  • Double check the quizzes for appropriateness of vocabulary and grammar for your class level and for errors.

How-To

  1. Copy the link to the quiz and post on your Web page, e-mail to students, distribute in some way to the students, or give them instructions on how to find the quiz on the Web site.
  2. Decide on a system for students to report their scores to you.

Teacher Tips

Use the search link to find all of the quizzes and puzzles on the site that relate to the topic or topics you are teaching.
