English for the Nursing Assistant: Communication on the Job

Details

Activity Description

This Web site is intended to help ESL learners prepare for their academic studies in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). The site was designed to support a CNA course for English language learners as it corresponds to the Communication Skills chapter in many CNA textbooks. The site provides four lessons that focus on the communications skills required in this field. Students listen, take notes, practice speaking skills and learn the vocabulary necessary for a profession in the health care field.

Preparation

Familiarize yourself with the content in the four lessons.

How-To

Provide class time for students to work independently on the four lessons. Have students show you (or print out) their score on the quiz at the end of each lesson.
