If your students are in need of a helpful tool to get organized in their daily lives, Evernote could be the answer. With a free account, they can download Evernote to their computer, which allows them to take text notes with images included, clip a Web page, grab a screenshot, save a recorded voice memo, and even organize their “notes” into searchable indexed notebooks by tagging them. Best of all, they can access their notes from any computer, Smartphone, or mobile device.

The “Evernote Trunk” details more applications you can use with an Evernote account, including many that you can use with an iPhone or iPad.

Evernote has many applications, but to introduce it to the students, use theExample Document: Getting Started with A ToDo List. Assign students to make a TO DO LIST for their class for the upcoming month.

Preparation

  1. Create an account.
  2. Preview video to introduce Evernotes .
  3. If you have a Smartphone or a tablet, you may want to download the apps for those devices, so you will be familiar with the process and can help students do the same.
  4. Preview the Evernote Web site and any apps for smartphones or tablets.
  5. Use the Example Document: Getting Started with A ToDo List to teach the steps for creating a to do list. From the list, have students go to Evernote to create a To-Do-List for class events for the upcoming month.

How-To

  1. Use the YouTube video to introduce Evernote if YouTube is not blocked at your school. (see Prep section for link). If it is blocked, go directly to the next step.
  2. Demonstrate the Web Site and how to create an account.
  3. Show your To-Do-List.
  4. Show the Example Document: Getting Started with A ToDo List. Go through the steps. Assign students in pairs or groups to create the class To-Do-List.
  5. Assign individual students to create a personal To-Do-List.
