Fact Monster: Analogy of the Day

Activity Description

Students are often required to answer analogy questions on tests. This activity will help them prepare for these questions. The site also offers more games and activities.

Preparation

  1. Preview site.
  2. Download and print Example Document 1 (above).

How-To

  1. Discuss what analogies are.
  2. As a class do examples of different types: part/whole, category/example, synonym, antonym etc.
  3. Hand out worksheet.
  4. Show the Analogy of the Day at the Fact Monster Web site (see link above).
  5. Assign students to do the Analogy for the Day, then text, twitter, or e-mail the answer to the teacher.
