Students participate in Discovery Education's Bridge to the Future Virtual Field Trip to explore the rapidly growing world of Extended Reality (XR). Through immersive videos and interactive experiences, students learn how Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) are transforming industries such as healthcare, education, manufacturing, entertainment, and workforce training. Students examine real-world applications of XR technology and explore careers connected to emerging technologies.

 

Preparation

  1. Check that the site is not blocked by your school and that all the activities function as they should.
  2. Review the lesson plan

Teacher Tips

  • Pause frequently during the field trip to discuss key concepts.
  • Provide visual examples of VR headsets and AR applications.
  • Connect XR technologies to careers students may already know.
  • Encourage students to think about both the benefits and limitations of immersive technologies.
