Lesson Plan

Warm-up
Engagement

Open the class with the question: What gives you trouble in grammar? Have learners discuss as pairs and then share thoughts with the class.

Introduction
Engagement

What are some ways to improve your grammar? Learners discuss then open to the class. Today we will share a website on grammar that in its own words, is "Grammar Bytes! Grammar Instruction with Attitude!" What does the title tell you?

Look at the tabs: Terms, Exercises, Handouts, Rules, PowerPoint, Canvas, Twitter, YouTube, Shop, About Robin (after going the Robin, read her Teaching Philosophy and share portions that resonate with you--ask learners their own feelings.

Presentation
Engagement Enhancement

The goal is to find a resource that helps with understanding and using grammar correctly, an have fun while doing so.
As pairs learners open the website.

Explore the site opening each section as a group, pair and then share insights with the class: Terms, (scroll down and note the regular term and the ones that have a YouTubevideo icon-share a video) Exercises, (have learners select a topic and share it) Handouts, (look at the handout and then  look at the interactive exercise-share with class) Rules.

In the next tabs, explain that the assignment will be to present (as pairs) something you learned about a grammar topic to the class using one of the methods used at the site, or a Google Slides presentation created youselves. Now, with that in mind go to PowerPoint, Canvas, Twitter,  and YouTube.

As a class summarize what is available at the site.

Practice
Engagement Enhancement

As pairs decide the grammar topic you will share with the class (or the topic can be teacher assigned). Spend time exploring the topic using the various tabs. Prepare to share the topic with the class either using materials at the website or using a Google Slide Presentation.

Evaluation
Engagement Enhancement

As a pair, present the grammar topic to the class.

Application
Engagement Enhancement Extension
