Activity Description

How to use Jeapardy Labs in the classroom.

Preparation

  1. Check the website to ensure it is not blocked at your site.
  2. Read through the lesson plan.
  3. Print and make copies of any handouts,if needed. Handout maybe Jeopardy form.

How-To

1. Instructor may ask learners if they are familiar with Jeopardy.

2. Instructor will demostrate the game on the overhead.

3. Learners can read the categories.

4. Learners have to option to play individually or as a team.

5. The Jeopardy grid/form can have 12- 30 tiles. All depends on class ability.

6. The game topic can be modified.

7. Learners can choose a topic from a given list on the website.

Teacher Tips

A helpful tip is you may want a learner to read, and another to answer. Or have learners take turns. Not all learners need to be able to read. This is a great way to create teamwork in your classroom.

More Ways

A great way to use this game is to focus on a lesson you are teaching. Example: Interviewing for a Job:

You can look for categories for the tiles. You can even make the tiles up and answer accordingly.

This can reinforce what the learners are learning.

You can access learners' knowledge my their answers. Do note that sometimes this game can be very excititng . Some learners my get anxious and forget the answer. This is just another form of learning for all learners. 

You may offer some learners to type, draw or write the answer down, if they wish.

Options for this game is grouping learners in groups to learn together.
