Artificial intelligence has become a pivotal tool in job interview preparation in the digital age. This lesson introduces students to the innovative ways AI can be used to prepare for the job market. By understanding the role of AI in simulating real interview scenarios, students will gain insights into their interview techniques and how they can be improved.

Preparation

  1. Check the website to ensure it is not blocked at your site.
  2. Read through the lesson plan.
  3. Print and make copies of any handouts.
  4. Decide on the AI platform you want to use such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, CoPilot, etc.
  5. AI platform access for each student.
  6. Devices with internet connectivity (computers/tablets).
  7. Worksheets for feedback analysis and action plan development.

Warm-up

  • Explain how AI can assist in job interview preparation by simulating interview scenarios, providing feedback, and offering improvement tips.
  • Emphasize the benefits of using AI tools for interview practice, such as accessibility, convenience, and personalized feedback.
Presentation
  • Demonstrate how to interact with AI platform for job interview practice.
  • Display sample interview questions on the projector screen.
  • Model how to ask questions to AI platform and interpret its responses.
  • Sample AI prompt: I am [20 years old] and need to prepare for an interview for a [nursing] job. Act as the interviewer and ask potential interview questions. When I respond to your question, please give me constructive feedback related to my response.
  • Highlight the importance of framing responses effectively, maintaining professionalism, and showcasing relevant skills and experience
Practice
Engagement
  • Divide students into pairs or small groups.
  • Instruct each group to choose a student to interact with AI platform as the interviewee.
  • Provide a list of interview questions for students to practice with AI platform. List of questions can be generated through AI for the specific career
  • Circulate the room to monitor student interactions and offer guidance as needed.
  • Encourage students to take turns playing the interviewer and interviewee role to practice answering questions and asking follow-up questions.
Evaluation
  • Gather students together and facilitate a brief discussion on their experience using AI platform for interview practice.
  • Ask students to share any challenges and strategies they used to overcome them.
  • Provide feedback on common mistakes and offer tips for improvement based on observed interactions
