Adults with low-level reading skills now can learn basic computer and Internet search skills while they practice reading and writing using a free online course developed by the partnership of ProLiteracy and Superpages.comĀ® The course, developed by ProLiteracy, highlights features of Superpages.comĀ®. The course is designed for adults with a fifth grade reading level and who are familiar with computers and the Internet. The site has audio assist. Use the Example Document to assign any or all lessons.Preparation
- Preview site and decide what to assign.
- If you want to use the student workbook, you will need to print the appropriate pages. Print the Example Document 1 for student use.
How-To
- Introduce topic - Brainstorm with class "How can we use the computer?"
- Brainstorm and discuss difficulties in finding information and how the Internet can help.
- Preview the site.
- Demonstrate how to use the site.
- Assign different lessons to each group. Hand out Example Document 1.
- Establish a timeline for presentations.
- Presentations can be oral and/or written.
