This site offers free tutorials and games to learn touch typing. They also offer typing tests for practice.

Preparation

  1. Preview site and try various tools.
  2. Decide which ones will meet your student's needs. Print copies of the Example Document - Typing worksheet (above) for student use.

Teacher Tips

  • Make a chart showing skills improvement of students showing their number of words per minute.
  • Emphasize accuracy before speed.
  • Encourage students not to look at the keyboard.
  • Celebrate growth rather than comparing students.
  • Track WPM progress weekly.
  • Use typing games as rewards or enrichment activities.
