Activity Description

Students learn how to use Evernote as a digital organization tool for managing notes, tasks, and information. They create a class to-do list and a personal to-do list while exploring features such as note-taking, notebooks, tags, images, and web clipping. Students discover how digital tools can help them stay organized at school, work, and home.

Preparation

  1. Create an account then (see instructions ) for what you can do with Evernote.
  2. Preview video to introduce Evernotes .
  3. If you have a Smartphone or a tablet, you may want to download the apps for those devices, so you will be familiar with the process and can help students do the same.
  4. Preview the Evernote Web site and any apps for smartphones or tablets.
  5. Use the Example Document: Getting Started with A ToDo List to teach the steps for creating a to do list. From the list, have students go to Evernote to create a To-Do-List for class events for the upcoming month.

Teacher Tips

  • Here is a YouTube video with a detailed introduction to using Evernote - 41 minutes
  • Demonstrate each step before asking students to complete it independently.
  • Pair students who are comfortable with technology with those who need additional support.
  • Encourage students to install the mobile app if they have smartphones.
  • Provide screenshots or printed instructions for students who need extra guidance.
  • If account creation is difficult, use a teacher-created demonstration account.
