Activity Description
This Web site is filled with tools to assist teachers as they set up their math course as well as students looking for individual help. The site includes class notes, video worksheets, video lectures (using different formats if you cannot access YouTube), homework sets, topic quizzes to assess if students are able to skip the topic, and much more.
Preparation
- Preview the site. Read the information on the home page to familiarize yourself with the site. Then select a course/topic in the left side navigation menu. Then you will see the Class Notes, Video Worksheets, Video formats, Homework sets and Topic Quizzes that are available.
- Preview the video
- If you plan on group activities after the class watches the video, print the homework set for your topic choice.
- Print copies of answer keys (found at the end of some of the homework sets, also problem answers are available in the class notes).
- Have an answer key to the Homework set available if you want students to correct their own work.
Teacher Tips
- Support Struggling Students: Print out Video Worksheets so they can follow along.
- Enrichment: Encourage advanced learners to create their own topic quizzes using Algebra2Go resources.
Make It Fun: Gamify the practice with challenges or competitions.

- Explore other courses offered on the left side menu. Beginning Algebra is not yet finished (missing homework sets and topic quizzes), but there are wonderful Class Notes and Videos to aid in understanding Algebra.
- Be sure to check Resources (scroll further down the left side menu). The study guides are well written and worth printing for student use.

Lesson Plan
- Quick Math Review Game: Start with a brief "Math Relay" game where students solve simple problems related to the day's topic on a whiteboard or digital platform (e.g., Kahoot, Quizizz).
- Think-Pair-Share: Give students a pre-assessment question related to the topic and ask them to discuss their thoughts with a partner before sharing with the class.
- Briefly introduce the Algebra2Go website and explain how it will be used as a learning tool.
- Show students where to find Class Notes, Video Worksheets, Homework Sets, and Topic Quizzes on the site.
- State the learning objective for the lesson (e.g., "Today, we will learn how to add and subtract fractions").
- Use Class Notes from the website or a textbook to introduce key concepts.
- Watch the instructional video as a class, pausing at key moments to discuss and solve example problems.
- Model problem-solving strategies and involve students by asking them to explain their thinking.
- Guided Practice: Hand out Video Worksheets and work through a few problems together.
- Collaborative Learning:
- Think-Pair-Solve: Students work in pairs to solve problems and explain solutions to each other.
- Jigsaw Learning: Assign groups different parts of a concept (e.g., different fraction problems) and have them teach each other.
- Class Debate ("SmackDown!") – If students disagree on an answer, have them defend their reasoning before revealing the correct answer.
- Use Topic Quizzes from Algebra2Go to assess understanding.
- Exit Ticket: Ask students to write down one thing they learned and one question they still have.
- If possible, use a digital self-check quiz (Google Forms, Kahoot, or Quizizz) to gauge understanding.
- Project-Based Learning: Have students apply the concept in real-world scenarios (e.g., "You are doubling a recipe that requires ¾ cup of sugar. How much do you need?").
- Math in My Life: Ask students to find a real-life example of how they use this math concept outside the classroom and share it.
