Create a slideshow, using PowerPoint or Google Slides or other presentation software, of a 5 to 10 step process or you can use the Example Document above Making Coffee Steps. This PDF consists of clear and distinct images of each step without any captions. Make a slide show of the steps and Scramble the order of the slides and save the scrambled presentation. Students open the saved model presentation and save it with a new name (preferably including their own name). They unscramble the slides placing them in the correct order, and then record a narration of the steps using sequential transition words such as first, second, third, next, finally, etc.

Use the Socrative teacher’s app or Web site to create formative assessments, which students take on the Socrative Student app, installed on mobile devices. Teachers can create quizzes or pose questions in class and get immediate feedback. The answers students provide to most questions through Socrative are anonymous. The one exception is the quiz. There students are asked to enter their names, which only the instructor can see. The instructor can ask spontaneous questions with the Single Question Activities, or can create student self-paced quizzes or teacher-paced quizzes ahead of time. Instructors can cover a certain amount of content in a lecture and then pose a True/False, multiple choice, or short answer / open-ended question. The instructor can project the class responses immediately and follow up with a discussion, or go back and repeat or review content that may be revealed as unclear to students.

Create audio files / podcast posts for listening activities for your class to access online or through the mobile app for SoundCloud. The example activity is a playlist with an accompanying handout for students to practice listening skills for map reading, finding locations, and following directions. Students can also create audio files / podcasts using the Web site or app for a variety of listening, speaking, and pronunciation assignments and projects.

Students can use this site on their own to practice this selection of 300 frequently used academic vocabulary words is derived from the "Academic Word List" (Coxhead, 2000). Students can also use the site on their own without registration by entering words to hear pronounced and in sentences and doing activities to practice the spelling of the words. There are 30 lists of 10 select words per list from the Academic Word List. Teachers can use the site to create spelling/vocabulary lists for students to practice.
