Abstract:
There is an increased demand for literacy and skills training in the workplace, and a corresponding increase in the number of teaching jobs available. Teachers need specialized training in needs assessment and curriculum development for workplace ESL. The article summarizes a pilot program at Portland Community College for pre-service and in-service training of teachers interested in setting up and teaching programs for ESL in the workplace (EWP).
