Abstract:
This joint publication of the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Education describes the need for improved basic skills in the workplace and details the process for identifying workplace literacy problems including how to perform a literacy audit. The process of solving workplace literacy problems is then discussed, including designing the training program, setting the goals, assessing available resources, recruiting the trainees, working with partners, building the curriculum, and evaluating the program. References and additional sources of information are included.
