Abstract:
"This Brief describes efforts to professionalize the workforce of adult ESL educators, including efforts to certify and credential the teachers." The qualification requirements for adult ESL teachers in the 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as recommended steps for continued 'professionalization' of the field are provided. A list of references is also included.
