Abstract:
The digest covers techniques for recruiting and retaining language minority students in adult literacy programs. Reasons for attrition are personal factors, program factors, and external factors. Retention can be enhanced by peer support, perceived progress, heightened self-esteem, and a good teacher. References are given.
